Aviemore is an ideal base for exploring and has a wide range of activities on the door step as well as over a dozen bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets, and all within walking distance.

Landmark Forest Theme Park
A four star attraction for the whole family. Spend a day riding the wild watercoaster, climbing the Pinnacle Wall, exploring the tree top trail and watching the red squirrels in their natural habitat. more details>>

The Strathspey Steam Railway
Runs between Aviemore and Broomhill. A must for steam train enthusiasts.
There are speciality 'Thomas 'weekends, and you can even dine out on the train!

Monarch Country
The famous Television series based on the fictional village of Glenbogle was filmed in and around Badenoch and Strathspey. We can provide you with a detailed map and information sheet to help you explore the villages and landscapes which inspired the creator and writer Michael Chaplin, and where you can find many of the locations used for the filming of the series. more details>>

Watersports
All types of watersports are available at Loch Morlich and Loch Insh where you will also find an interpretative trail through the forest, a children's adventure park, climbing wall, dry ski slope, mountain biking, restaurant and shop. Hire a canoe and paddle your way down the Spey through the RSPB reserves- suitable for all abilities and a great day out. more details>>

Birdwatching
We are lucky to be in the centre of a wonderful area for birdwatching. There are 6 RSPB reserves easily accessible by car , amongst them the famous and important wetland habitat at Insh Marshes. Loch Garten the Abernethy Forest, Findhorn Valley and Spey Bay are other well known local ones.

We are a popular Guest House with birdwatchers and encourage all enthusiasts to fill in our bird journal, which provides an interesting and informative read for newcomers to the area. You could also leave one of your photos for inclusion in the collection of wildlife photographs adorning the walls of the house. more details>>

Fishing
The river Spey offers some of the finest Salmon and sea trout fishing in Scotland. There are both Association and private beats available, and we have access to a private stretch for brown trout at the cost of only £4.00 per day. more details>>

Wildlife
The Spey Valley is teeming with wildlife, apart from the interesting variety of birds you may even spot a red squirrel from the breakfast room window. There is a badger watch held on evenings throughout the warmer months and red deer are often spotted on the roadside. If you want to be certain of spotting something unusual the Highland Wildlife Park is a great place to visit. This park has something for everyone from bison and wolves to a capercaillie and an angry Red Grouse made "Famous" by the whisky adverts. The park is 6 mile south of Aviemore. The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre has the only wild reindeer herd in Britain. There are daily visits to the herd where you get to feed them by hand amidst the wonderful scenery of the Cairngorm Mountains. more details>>

The Whisky Trail
Jonathan's Favourite. Within easy driving distance (but designate a driver!) we have the worlds largest malt whisky distilling area. Many of the distilleries have excellent visitor centres where you can learn all about the distilling process and sample the produce. On Thursday evenings in Aviemore Frank Clark holds his whisky tasting evenings- a chance to learn about the different malts and again sample one or two. A must for the whisky lover!

The Castle Trail
Cawdor, Ballindalloch, Blair Atholl, Urqhuart - to name but a few. Historical and cultural sites are in abundance in this part of the Highlands, giving a wonderful living testimony to the colourful history of the area. more details>>
